Hal A. Van Sickle
Hal Andrew Van Sickle, 99, died Friday, November 10, 2006 at St. Josephs Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was a member and former Treasurer of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. He was the owner and operator of the Carole Motel in Garden City, a former Garden City Alderman and was an avid fisherman and golfer. Mr. Van Sickle was a former member of the Savannah Golf Club and the Mary Calder Golf Club. In the late 1940s he qualified and played in the U.S. Open. He set a course record in the late 1940s at the Municipal Golf Course and set a record for the greatest round of golf with a 7 under par, scoring a 64 at the General Oglethorpe Invitational Golf Tournament.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cary Van Sickle.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mae Van Sickle, of Garden City, seven daughters, Joan Paul Fleming, of Bonita Springs, FL, Carole Jim Bowlin, of DeQuoin, Ill., Deborah Van Sickle, of Garden City, Elizabeth Van Sickle, of Charleston, S.C., Judy Rhodenizer, of LaGrange, GA, Barbara Herring, of Guyton, and Sandra Earnest, of Lubbock, TX and one daughter-in-law, Donna Van Sickle, of Metter, GA.
Also nineteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. A reception will be held following the service at the church.

My memories of when we were children will always be a part of me and I'm am so lucky for that. No southern could crab better than your father.
